The Computer Shop Experience is a supported skills and participation workshop where participants build confidence, communication, and everyday workplace-style skills through hands-on, guided activities.

Each session supports customer interaction practice, basic IT skill development, and social connection, helping participants work towards greater independence, confidence, and teamwork at their own pace.

Customer Interaction Skills โ€“ practising friendly greetings, listening, and helping conversations

Technology Skills โ€“ learning basic troubleshooting, device care, and simple setup activities

Confidence & Social Skills โ€“ teamwork, communication, and sharing ideas in a respectful way

Shop Skills Practice โ€“ role-play activities like point-of-sale practice, stock organisation, and display setup

Each participant is supported at their own pace with individual guidance as needed, peer encouragement, and Kahoot-style learning games to keep sessions engaging and enjoyable.

Sessions are delivered across multiple themed activity zones set within a computer-shop style environment, supporting hands-on learning and social participation.

In the Tech Repair Zone, participants take part in supported, hands-on activities using computer hardware to build technology confidence and problem-solving skills.

Activities may include guided exploration of computer components, practising safe handling, and learning how parts fit together in a supported environment.

The focus is on confidence, teamwork, and learning at each participantโ€™s own pace, within a safe and encouraging space.

SHOP SKILLS & SALES

๐Ÿท๏ธ Retail Display Zone

The Retail Display Zone supports participants to practise skills in a retail-style learning environment. Participants take part in supported activities such as setting up computer displays, organising shelves, and practising shop presentation and cleanliness.

Through role-play and teamwork, participants build communication, confidence, and participation skills, while developing routines and a sense of achievement in a supportive setting.

SERVICE WITH A SMILE

๐Ÿ’ณ POS & Customer Service Zone


At the front of the shop, the POS & Customer Service Zone supports participants to practise customer service role-play in a safe, supportive setting. Using a working Point of Sale (POS) system, participants practise scanning products, processing mock payments and refunds, and using polite, confident communication. Itโ€™s a great space to build communication, accuracy, and social confidence at each participantโ€™s own pace.

The Gamer Zone is a supportive space where learning and fun come together. Participants take part in team-based games that encourage communication, cooperation, and shared decision-making.

Using gaming PCs and consoles, participants connect socially while building teamwork, patience, and positive sportsmanship in a relaxed and inclusive environment.
